Chlorella: one green cell, and why we built a house around it

What Chlorella is, why microalgae fascinate skincare, and why we chose a single green cell as our foundation.

Green microalgae drifting through rays of light under water.

Place a drop of fresh water under a microscope and you may find it: a small, perfectly round green cell, only a few thousandths of a millimetre across. Chlorella is one of the simplest organisms on Earth, and one of the oldest. It has spent an extraordinary span of time learning to live with sunlight, heat and change.

A compact library of resilience

To thrive in open water, Chlorella builds up a dense store of useful compounds: chlorophyll, which gives it that deep, living green, together with proteins, vitamins and antioxidant compounds. Over time, nature has refined this single cell into something remarkably efficient.

That efficiency is what drew us in. We did not want an ingredient that plays a supporting role. We wanted a foundation: something with a story, a clear character and a quiet kind of strength.

Why microalgae, and why now?

Microalgae need little more than water, light and air. They can be cultivated in clean, controlled conditions, without large areas of farmland. For a house that cares about how its ingredients come to be, that matters.

In skincare, microalgae extracts are valued above all for how they feel: fresh, light and comfortable. In our Microalgae Hydrogel, Chlorella is held in a water-rich gel network, so its green character meets the skin in its most pleasant form.

Honest about what an ingredient can do

We love Chlorella, but we do not promise miracles. Skincare cares for the skin; it does not treat it. What we can say is this: the Hydrogel hydrates, feels calming, and leaves the complexion looking fresher. And each time you use it, you carry a little of this ancient green cell with you.

The smallest organisms carry the oldest wisdom.
